Blackstar Canyon to Beek's Ranch

Nathalie, I, and a few friends decided to go for a bike ride.

Actually this was a group ride with STR and ODC. Nathalie and I arrived late and ended up riding up by ourselves which was fine. We actually caught and passed a few people before we got to Beeke's. The goal of this ride was to cleanup the area a bit.

 

When we got there it was already clean, but littered with bikes!

 

Here we are crusing in as soon as the party was getting started. There was actually a guy with a trailer behind his bike with a radio on it. A few guys also drove a truck up with drinks. There was a couple up there with a 2-3 year old too. They had a tandem bike with a trailer behind it. I like riding in smaller groups but it was fun to get out with a big group for a while too. Here's the entire ODC + STR group, about 50 people, which was pretty cool. The ride was about 18 miles round trip with 2200' of gain. It was a nice steady climb and not very technical, just long. I wish I would have had my new Garmin Edge 305 before the ride so I could have posted it on Geoladders (I'm TioTony on there by the way).

 

The ride down was fairly uneventful until we got near the end. There's a crazy old guy out there who thinks he owns the land. He swung the gate for his driveway across the fire road. One of the STR guys was arguing with him. Nathalie and I just kept on riding in hopes of avoiding the gun fire.
