The Quarry
On August 6th, Bob and I headed down to an abandoned quarry near San Marcos to do some aid climbing. The climb we did is about 75 feet long and bolted. There are some spots between bolts where you need to hook or girth hitch aluminium rods or you can free it at 5.11. I choose to aid it since I can't free 5.11 yet. I led the climb which was good practice for me since I am really just getting into doing aid on routes I can't free. Hopefully El Cap will be in my future (distant future I have a feeling).
Bob lent me a pair of his Yates Adjustable Daisies. He also lent me his aiders since I forgot mine. I thought my pack was missing something. After using the daisies, I don't know how I ever did aid without them.
Here is a picture of Bob from the Anchors:

Here is Bob still at the anchors after I rapped down:

On the way down, Bob setup a traverse with the static line so he could pratice cleaning it. I don't even want to attempt this yet. Maybe next time. It's hard to see everything that is going on, but here is a picture of Bob cleaning the traverse.

Finally is a picture of the scenary you can experience while climbing at the quarry:
