Back in the 909

Mt. Rubidoux is working pretty good for quick trips on the weekend. I headed over there again, this time with Kris from work. There is a route I can set up a static line and practice on. It is nice since I get to play with some of the techniques I rarely get to use. This weekend for example, I down climbed an overhanging pitch.

Here is a picutre of me with my pig. As you can see, there is room for more gear. If you would like to donate more gear to fill the pig, just shoot me an e-mail.

Kris got a cool picture of the moon over Rubi.

Before we headed up, I told Kris something interested always happens when you go up early in the morning. We headed up the trail about 6:30. When we got to the top and I started setting up the anchor, immediately a group of Hispanic women became screaming in Spanish at the cross on top of the hill. It was pretty interesting.

This is a good shot of the route. It extends about 15 feet down from the bottom of this pictures. As you can see, it has a lot of fixed gear. I usually place 3 nuts in the crack at the bottom and the rest is fixed, but sketchy in some cases.

I thought I would try adding some movement to the site. This shows the bottom 15 feet. The first placement is the hardest. I just try to swing in and place a #3 quick. If I go back, I would like to try hooking the first few feet.

Snack time!

If you're going to go to the 909, you might just as well see some historic sites.

Finally, here is a picture of Kris who will be broke soon since he has been hooked and has to buy several thousand dollars of gear that he doesn't have and can't borrow.
