Alone Again
I wasn't planning very far ahead to climb this weekend so I couldn't find a partner, which means it was back to Rubidoux for me. I was feeling pretty good so I decided I would solo "Minor Bolt Ladder" which I have never climbed before but have been eyeing for some time. This was my first time soloing a route I had never climbed, also my first hook move while solo aiding.
The route is setup nice for soloing. I cinched a bolt that has a nut on it at the bottom, then there are 4 bolts, I clove hitched the first one as a backup. I knew the last bolt wouldn't get me to the top and wasn't sure what I would find once I got up there. I brought some small stoppers and some hooks. I ended up needing a hook, I used a Talon.
The route is really reachy. I am 6 feet tall and was having a tough time reaching the first 2 bolts while top stepping, partly because the beginning the route is overhanging. Here are some pictures of the route. The chains at the top and all 4 bolts on the route are in great shape and don't look very old.

The picture below shows where you need the hook and also the rappel off to the right. The edge at the top isn't razor sharp, but I duck taped it up (and removed it when I was done) a bit just to reduce wear and tear. I left a little something on the top for the next visitor. If you find it, shoot me an e-mail, I am starting to feel like I am the only person that ever climbs these routes even though I see other's duct tape there from time to time.
